Grade five students explore the meaning of culture as defined by the
Cultural Universals:
- geographic setting
- food, clothing
- shelter
- family systems
- political organization
- economics
- attitudes toward the unkown
- communications
- arts
- recreation
Through an understanding of the Social Sciences (archaeology,
anthropology, economics, geography, history, political science, sociology and psychology) children learn how to
apply the Cultural Universals model to the study of ancient Egypt, ancient Greece and/or ancient Rome.
